THE APPROACH //
INSPIRED BY THEATRE

I have conceived, produced, and directed photo shoots and special events for all industries, from Oil and Gas to Retail. But, my most compelling (and favourite) industry to create for is the Performing Arts. Often working with small budgets, building on big ideas, and collaborating with some of the best in the business, I've created purpose-driven digital and print campaigns that support everyone on-set, engage audiences, and most importantly, sell the product.

The Great American Trailer Park Musical

written by David Nehls and Betsy Kelso

THE APPROACH //
INSPIRED BY ROMANCE NOVELS

Told through the eyes of three trailer park muses, Betty, Lin, and Pickles, the show explores the relationships between the tenants at the Armadillo Acres Trailer Park in Starke, Florida, particularly between Pippi, "the stripper on the run," Jeannie the agoraphobic, and Jeannie's tollbooth-collector husband, Norbert. Every story needs a bad boy, so look out for Pippi's no-good marker-sniffing boyfriend, Duke. The campaign theme was based on heavily stylized pulp-fiction novels, “covers” designed to sell the story of each of these ridiculously fun characters.

StoryBook Theatre - Various Shows

THE APPROACH //
INSPIRED BY CHARACTERS

I've had the privilege of working with StoryBook Theatre since 2014, creating the look and visual theme for all of their season artwork. These are a selection of the photography-based campaigns, created for Broadway Across Canada show programs, billboards, and social media advertising. For every shoot, I've worked closely with the Artistic DIrector and the talent to ensure their character's story was compellingly shared, and to give audiences a glimpse into their world.

Night of the Living Dead Live

Written by Christopher Bond, Dale Boyer & Trevor Martin

Created by Christopher Harrison & Phil Pattison

Authorized by George Romero, John Russo & Russ Streine

THE APPROACH //
INSPIRED BY CLASSIC HORROR

A comedic tribute to the historic 1968 film, this is the officially authorized stage production of the film. The play lovingly examines the character relationships, the time period of the movie, and its undying influence on the horror genre. Through the campaign, the iconic characters were re-visited, using revealing key quotes from the show. The shoot examined the idea that what we don't see is often is scarier than what we do see... or is it?

The Burning Pestle

Written by Dan Gibbins

THE APPROACH //

INSPIRED BY THE PLAYHOUSE

It’s the opening night of a new comedy about star-crossed lovers. When the donor, whose grant keeps the struggling theatre company from bankruptcy, decides she has some changes, everyone must adapt, before the show's live audience. Their simple romance story becomes complicated by adding a new character, an unpredictable knight… the knight of the Burning Pestle. A play within a play, exploring the ups and downs both onstage and offstage, the show was written as a love letter to the theatre itself. It seemed only fitting that the images should capture all the behind-the-scenes action, lovingly shot on-site at Calgary's historic Pumphouse Theatre.
